Our management team brings executive level experience and expertise to every client engagement.
Neil Backes, Partner
Prior to founding Backes Crocker, Neil held executive and
management positions at BMC Software and Compaq Computer Corp.
respectively. During his
four years with BMC, he managed lines of software business and operations areas, and was responsible for developing and
implementing BMC's offshore and US-based outsourced product development resourcing strategy. His organization implemented
scalable business processes that enabled BMC to expand their development coverage by using
outsourced technology resources. Prior
to BMC, Neil was with Compaq Computer Corporation for over 8 years in a variety of technical management positions.
During his time with Compaq, Neil was instrumental in the development and implementation of the business processes
that allowed for extensive use of outsourced technical resources in developing systems software. Neil was also responsible
for the planning and implementation of the first large-scale university-based development center at Texas A&M University
while with Compaq.
Neil is involved with various philanthropic endeavors. In 2001, Neil founded Alpha Rho Alumni Corporation, a 501(c)(3)
organization that that provides academic scholarships at the university level. He is available for speaking engagements upon request.
Neil earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from West Virginia University.
Ben Crocker, Partner
Prior to founding Backes Crocker, Ben held senior management and executive positions at BMC Software. During his five years
with BMC, he managed both technical lines of business and operations areas. He was responsible for developing and implementing
BMC's offshore and US-based technical resourcing operations and processes across product lines. His team implemented scalable
business processes that enabled BMC to expand their development coverage by using offshore technical resources. Additionally,
his organization redesigned the business processes, which defined the use of US-based technical contract labor. Prior
to BMC Software, Ben was with several publicly traded systems management software companies for over 15 years in a variety of technical
management positions. Ben was responsible for the development of offshore outsourcing processes as part of a strategic approach
to software development.
Ben earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computing Science from Texas A&M University.
